Top Five Ideas This Weekend for Girls' Time

The DMV has a lot of options for afternoons with friends. A lot of the "go-to" ideas are restaurants, shopping or wine bars (who doesn't love a good glass of wine?) but these are the some ideas that you may not have thought of recently to mix things up with your besties.

  • La Tasca. Locations in Washington D.C., Alexandria, Rockville and Arlington. Why did this make the list? Besides paella making and sangria making dinners, La Tasca offers a wide variety of tapas for girlfriends to try as tasting plates and a "flight" of sangrias. Receive a wooden board of four sangrias to try, makes this an entertaining place for some "Sex and the City" time. More information

  • Color-Me-Mine. Trix May be for kids but pottery isn't just for them. With multiple locations around the DMV area, color-me-mine is selected for the ability to make hostess serving plates, home decor or frivolous decorations. Look upon your pottery piece as the memories and laughter from your afternoon with your friends.  More Information

  • National Botanic Gardens. Besides a beautiful display during the Holiday season, this oft overlooked location is delightful for an hour or two; best part: it's free entry. More information

  • The Potomac Bead Company. Grab your girlfriend and come bead! Jewelry parties and making has developed in the last few years or so. What is great about this location in Alexandria, there is also bead making classes- to take your beading game to the next level. Always have a keepsake too of the occasion. More information

  • Glass House Winery. Maybe a little far for a quick jaunt, but the drive is worth it. The winery is open Thursday-Sunday. Besides a bed and breakfast on the premises, the draw for this place is the tropical conservatory attached to the tasting room.
