My contemplations today- why do women have such issues with their friendships compared to how men handle their buds? Men in my office, after taking an informal survey, said it was because we are so emotional, drama seeking, competitive or grudge holders...but I think that there is something deeper to this.
So in my attempts to crack the code of online dating: I decided to take a man's view of dating rather than my overly ambitious-career-minded romantic D.C. valedictorian view of the process...and this is what happened.
There is a little shop on one's walking travels called Olde Towne Gemstonesin Alexandria down by the riverfront. Owned since 1975, the owner carries crystals, minerals and fossil specimens from around the world. Not only is this shop literally a treasure trove- the owner is an encyclopedia of local lore and a fixture in the community.
Gadsby's Tavern is located in Alexandria, Virginia. Consisting of two buildings; a tavern dating back to 1785 and a hotel back to 1792- it is a charming location for an intimate dinner date or family supper.
Grilling in the South is definitely a trademark of Southern hospitality dining. The milder climate lends an opportunity for the locals to make grilling at least a three season activity. So since we have a lot of grilling here, there is always a search for new ideas to make it different- but still easy and savory.
There has been a recent influx in the media concerning girls missing from the Washington, D.C. area. With this recent coverage, this time more than ever we may have an opportunity to look at some cold cases that are still remaining active in the area.
The March 2011 murderous assault referred to by the press as the Lululemon murders was particularly to the world for several reasons: first, because of its unusual cruelty, and secondly, because of its unlikely perpetrator. The incident shocked the well-to-do community of Bethesda, Maryland, town with a low crime rate that sits close to Washington, D.C., and ended in a life sentence for its perpetrator, Brittany Norwood.
I thought Dear Jackie O was better than Dear Diary or Dear Dumb Diary- that my kids are currently reading. This evokes the image of the picture my mother kept on our mantle- the epitome of what womanhood was supposed to be. Not complaining, wearing her pearls as her husband cheated and the dream she was promised was a disappointment.
